Get your systems to talk to each other
Streamline your existing manual processes and
retain your mission's personal touch.
For non-profit operations and finance leaders
If you spend 1 hour a week on manual data entry, that's the same as 1 working week per year.
That's not sustainable for a growing non-profit looking to expand the reach of their programs.
Think of what you could do with one extra week per year. Plus, imagine not having the stress of having to make sure you don't introduce a typo by retyping that data, or of making sure you're copy-pasting into the exact right location (errors in manual data entry are common), or of having to remember exactly what fields need to go where and when and how while you're ALSO trying to make long term plans and improvements for the future of your organization.
You don't want (or need, probably) a new tool or a new piece of software. You already have tools that you love working with, you just wish they all talked to each other better.
Examples of manual processes
Here are some examples of manual processes other organizations have automated:
- Syncing donations or contacts between different systems.
- Splitting payroll up between different grants in your accounting software.
- Renaming hundreds of files.
- Preparing lists of donors to send personalized "thank you"s to.
- Generating grant reports or program impact reports.
- Coordinating volunteer assignments.
If any of these processes (or ones like them) are sucking up your time, schedule a call to find out what's possible with automation and see if your specific manual process can be easily offloaded onto reliable, consistent automated tools that your organization owns.
Don't change a working process to fit a new tool: automate what's working instead.
Here are examples of work that I've done. See if any of these sound helpful to you:
Payroll and grant reporting for a growing environmental non-profit
- Saved $5,000/year in expenses.
- Saved 3+ hours/month of the Operations Director's time.
Volunteer coordination for an engaged Lutheran church
- Saved 60 hours/year of the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator's time.
- Tailored automated volunteer communication according to each volunteer's preferences (text, email, paper, etc.).

Curious how much you can save?
I believe technology should make our lives easier.
I love to make systems that run without you so that you can get back to doing the work you love to do, or take time to rest and recuperate so you can come back more productive.
Technology that replaces work you would have normally been doing by hand and allows you to step away from the computer to do what you love is good technology, in my opinion.
Let's create some good technology together. If you want to get to know me better, sign up for my email list below.
"Working with Alex has been one of the highest-return operational investments we've made. The upfront cost was extremely reasonable compared to the amount of staff time we're saving, and because the solution was built around our existing systems, it feels sustainable and easy to maintain as our organization continues to grow." - Christine

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How much do you charge?
Most automation projects cost between $1,000 and $10,000. Custom software often costs more. Before we start working together, I'll ask detailed questions about your needs until I have enough information; then I'll give you a price that I will commit to, even if things end up being more complicated once we get started. -
Is there a contract to sign?
Yes, a short one. I don't like reading a lot of legalese. Also, every contract comes with 12 months of free/included support, to answer all your questions, fix any issues, and make sure you're satisfied with what I've built for you. -
Are there any ongoing costs?
I don't charge ongoing costs for project maintenance unless there's work to be done. My goal is to hand a system off to you, well-documented, so that you can take it and run with it. That said, some of the automation tools I use have small ongoing costs: usually $60-$130/month with a non-profit discount. -
How soon can you start?
My schedule is always changing. Once I have a clear idea of what I would be building with you, I can tell you my earliest start date. Smaller projects will usually fit in to my schedule more easily than larger projects.
